WHAT ARE YOUR MEMORIES OF THE GILLIES HILL?

Save Gillies Hill thinks that the personal memories and experiences of the thousands of people who have enjoyed the ancient Gillies Hill over many years are important in the campaign to preserve and restore this beautiful place – as important as the ever-growing dossier of scientific, historical and academically-rigorous evidence we’ve been gathering as part of our Shadow EIA that we’ll deploy if, and when, the modern battle is joined to a decisive conclusion.

And that’s why we’re calling on everyone who has roamed the Hill – or run, cycled, bird-watched, tree-climbed, cliff-abseiled, plant-spotted, badger-observed deer-encountered, peregrine-marvelled, fox-confronted, Polmaise Castle-clambered, or, probably most importantly, simply played on its historic slopes: tell us your memories, and why the Gillies Hill is important to you – and we’ll post them on our website – and include them in our Shadow EIA.

For, even more than the history and wild life and beauty of the Hill, it’s how these have been experienced by  ‘ordinary people’ that matters.

You can do this in two ways: by sending them to our website: (gillieshill@hotmail.co.uk) or by post to: Save Gillies Hill, 1 Thomson Place, Cambusbarron, STIRLING FK7 9PE

You can include your name; or, if you prefer, remain anonymous, though a contact phone number or email address would be useful initially. In addition, SGH members will be actively seeking such memories in the months ahead when, as has become an important strand in the campaign, they address other groups and organisations, locally and further afield, who are equally concerned about this wonderful place.
